Volvo Bus Corporation had great success with their B10M chassis in the 1980's, so they thought that they give it a try on the U.S. market. But just like other European manufacorers, they had very little success. They won tenders in New Jersey, San Mateo (San Francisco), Philadelphia and Rhode Island, but after those deliveries (some 200+ buses) VBC decided to pull out of the North American market. I purchased one bus form New Jersey Transit for the price of 2.501 USD + freight to Denmark. It was just for the fun of it, to have an American Volvo B10M in Europe, but the engine was used up and side windows were made of plexiglass, not approved by the Danish Transport Authority, so after some years of ownership it was scrapped.
